Presidents Letter

Interboro Institute is a unique college. It is a place where students can change their lives. Our students start from very different places in life, but each student has the opportunity to receive a quality education. In the past, a number of our graduates have transferred to top institutions such as St. John's University, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Pace University, Mercy College, St. Joseph's College and Medgar Evers College, among others. Some have gone on to graduate and law school. The graduates who enter the work force take jobs as junior accountants, paralegals, ophthalmic dispensers, managers, sales associates, and office assistants, to name a few. These goals are obtainable, but not without commitment, dedication, hard work, and perseverance.

While each student must take personal responsibility for his or her education, Interboro will provide the tools and support necessary to succeed. Our faculty members are well-credentialed and most have master's degrees in their fields and are experienced teachers of students from diverse backgrounds. We have a well-staffed Academic Resource Center, where our tutors are prepared to work with you to give you the tools to pass each class you need to graduate. We also invite you to take advantage of the resources available in our expanded and upgraded libraries. Our academic advisors will guide you as you move towards graduation. They will spend time with you as you face some of the challenges that college presents. Professional counselors are also available if you have a personal issue that might interfere with your academic success. College is a place to discover and explore your non-academic gifts and talents. Participating in clubs and other student activities allows you an opportunity to expand your horizons and develop your potential.

We are proud to announce that during the past year, our Paralegal Studies program was approved by the American Bar Association (ABA). We received this recognition after having demonstrated that we met their criteria for academic quality. I offer my congratulations to our students and faculty. Each year I am inspired when I attend our graduation ceremonies. This past year we graduated a record number of students - some with plans to enter the world of work pursuing their career choices and others with plans to continue their education at senior colleges. It is a moving ceremony that calls us to rededicate ourselves to the college mission every year. I extend a heartfelt invitation to you to join our learning community.

Best wishes for your future success,
Michael J. O'Brien, President (Acting)
